BRAZIL RETURNS HOME WITH TEN MEDALS

The Brazilian national table tennis under-18 team has finished its participation in the El Salvador Open (part of the Junior World Circuit). In the tournament, which ended Sunday (8/14) night, the yellow and green team won three gold, three silver and four bronze medals. The person who nailed the last gold medal was the double Efraim Carvalho and Ricardo Kojima, who in the final defeated the Dominican players Emil Santos and Juan Vila by 3 sets to 1 (11-7, 7-11, 11-7 e 11-3). The other two gold medals were won on Saturday (8/13), when the Brazilian athletes won the team boys and girls tournaments.

In the girls squad, Mariany Nonaka and Karin Sako got the silver medals for the double competition after losing to the Mexican players Mariana Mandujano and Sarah Rosas to 3 sets to 2  (12-10, 6-11, 11-5, 5-11 e 8-11). While on the singles dispute, Efraim Carvalho has shown once again that he is in a great phase and went to the El Salvador Open final against Marcos Freitas, one of the most important names in the International Circuit and one of the best junior players in Europe. Efraim lost to 4 sets to 1 (11-8, 4-11, 5-11, 9-11 e 2-11). On the girls single, Mariany Nonaka didn't have a lot of chance against the Swedish Madeliene Melcher and was overcome by 4 sets to 0  (9-11, 6-11, 8-11 e 7-11).
