LATIN AMERICA'S TEAM READY FOR CHALLENGE

CBTM

Not long to go, the 2006 ITTF World Cadet Challenge is fast approaching; the competition starts on Wednesday 25th October 2006 in Vrsac, Serbia and one team in particular is making absolutely sure they are prepared.

The team in question is Latin America. They have been in Spain, training at the San Cugat centre near Barcelona since Saturday 14th October 2006 under the watchful eye of Spain's national coach, Peter Engel.

High Standard
"We have been training at the San Cugat High Performance Centre and it has been a great success", said Carlos Esnard, the Technical Director of the Latin American Table Tennis Union. "Two sessions a day with ten further players, including Spain's Sara Ramirez, Germany's Michael Janger and Sweden's Madeleine Melcher has meant that the standard of play has been extremely high."

The young players from Latin America have responded and clearly they have enjoyed the experience of training in Barcelona. "Our players are happy and motivated, they have appreciated the programme which Peter Engel designed", continued Carlos Esnard. "They are looking forward impatiently to the next training camp which will be in Kanjiza, Serbia from 20th to 23rd October under the direction of Peter Karlsson and Mikael Andersson."

The camp in San Cugat concludes on Wednesday 18th October 2006.
